This would be the highest ever budget for DOE nonproliferation programs.
- The program to eliminate production of weapons-grade plutonium in Russian nuclear reactors, formerly administered by the Defense Department, has been transferred to the Department of Energy.
- FY 2002 Appropriations numbers include the $223,000,000 emergency supplemental appropriation which followed the 9/11 attacks. We have included the change in funding from both the total appropriation and the regular appropriation without the additional funding following the attacks.
