Ad Campaign on Iran

November 2007
In its ongoing efforts to raise public awareness about vital national security issues, and to counter provocative words and acts from the White House, the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation has launched an ad campaign, both online and in print, to raise awareness about the dangers of a U.S. military attack on Iran.
Our Ad Online
The Center has taken its ad campaign online to the blogosphere, where it has the potential to be seen by millions of people who discuss and debate foreign policy issues like Iran 24/7. So far, the blog ad has been published on Agonist, Informed Comment, War and Piece, Eschaton, Blogs of War, A Soldier's Mind, Jon Swift, and 15 other blogs focusing on political issues.
Every time someone clicks on the ad, they are taken to the Center's petition that urges Congress to prevent a costly war with Iran. Our goal is to gather 1 million signatures before the petition is delivered to Congress. Sign the petition here.
The Center would like to thank Marc Herold for the use of images for the online ad.
Our Ad in Print
"'All options are on the table,' says the Bush Administration. Does that include a nuclear option? Yes, they have refused to rule out using nuclear weapons," states the newspaper ad.
The ad continues, "Nuclear or not, the fallout from this attack will be catastrophic. Iran is three times larger than Iraq. It has vast resources and intense national pride. It can wreak havoc on oil markets. It can retaliate against Israel or the Gulf States. In Iraq and Afghanistan, 175,000 U.S. soldiers could be the victims of a surge of anger at America."
The Center's print ad has been published in the following newspapers:
The Village Voice, New York, NY
The Austin Chronicle, Austin, TX
C-Ville Weekly, Charlottesville, VA
Phoenix New Times ,Phoenix, AZ
The Omaha Reader, Omaha, NE
San Fransisco Bay Guardian, San Fransisco, CA
Indy Herald Weekly, Indianapolis, IN
